The top 10 highest grossing games worldwide in January 2018 were:

  3. Fate/Grand Order
  4. Candy Crush Saga
  5. Fantasy Westward Journey
  6. Clash Royale
  7. Lineage M
  8. Clash of Clans
  9. Candy Crush Soda Saga
  10. Pokemon Go


King’s Candy Crush Franchise see 2 of its products in the top 10

As CPI increases and casual games makes its way back into relevancy, King’s Candy Crush franchise has seen a significant boost in revenue and has taken up 2 spots in the top 10 grossing apps for 2018.  Since releasing the original title back in 2012, King has been able to sustain its top match 3 puzzle crown as they continue to update their build and add the flavor of the year feature in their game that increase their bottom line.  Supercell is another company that has 2 titles in the top grossing with Clash Royale and Clash of Clans.  

Country Breakdown

China developers have seen significant growth in this space as they bolster the highest grossing app in the world in Tencent’s Honor of Kings and another massive MMO for Mobile, Netease’s Fantasy Westward Journey.  Taking the 2 and 3 spot are both Japanese based developers Mixi’s Monster Strike and Aniplex’s Fate Grand / Order.  What is surprising that Gungho’s Puzzles & Dragons has dropped out of this list.
